The Importance Of Your Own Space

Working More Efficiently

If you enjoy what you’re doing, it’s going to be much easier to do. This isn’t exactly something you can fake, though. Consider the plight of the artist; most of whom must make do in the direst circumstances. Their circumstances become reflected in their artistry, such that oftentimes the most dismal works come from the youngest creators.

This is because youth and poverty often go hand-in-hand, which takes away ideal perspective and replaces it with jaded expression. Even the output of an artist will suffer if the surroundings from which they create be stilted against their creative efforts.

But what can you do? It’s not like studio space is cost-effective; you’ve kind of got to make do with what you’ve got where you’re at, don’t you? You may have a wonderful vehicular restoration project, but no garage to keep the finished product in. The hobos don’t care about that tarp you throw over it every night, either. But you can’t put it in a garage; the costs are too high!

What about that woodworking shop you’ve been trying to install in the house for the last ten years? You’ve been skilled at carpentry since high school, but adult life has forced you to put a lid on it, and now you’re beginning to forget why you loved it in the first place.

Finding Space To Keep Your Dreams Alive

You may not need much space, or you may need a lot—but you’ve got to be cost-effective about getting it. Well, one of the most cost-effective ways to find space is through utilization of a metal building kit. According to Fidelity Steel, “if you’re looking to keep as much money in the bank as possible, this is a good approach.”

Did you know that the national average for commercial prefab structures is between $16 and $20 a square foot? That’s cheaper than land in most places! This means you could build a 500 square foot building for between $8,000 and $10,000.

Does your home have a big yard? Could it fit a thirty by sixteen or fourteen by thirty-six foot structure? You could use this as a garage, a workspace for your woodworking, an artist station, or even a tiny home. Consider the P-Model. You can get it either fourteen feet or thirty feet wide, and extend it backwards as far as you like.

This means you could commission an extremely thin warehouse, or an extremely long one. Either way, you can fill the inside how you’d wish. It’s simple enough to insulate such a structure yourself with caulk and duct-tape. Then you can wallpaper over that and add some light fixtures.

If you commission a prefabricated structure with enough vertical space, you may even be able to have multi-level functionality in the area. Add some solar panels to the outside and you can almost double-down on your investment. Did you know a 3.1 kWh solar setup will increase property value by approximately $18,000+?

That means if you can install such a system for less than the property value increase, it actually makes you money. Then there’s the benefit of being entirely free of the grid, and always having available power.

A Multitude Of Possibilities

Thinking laterally allows you to make your dreams into a reality. For those who need space, finding it in some affordable way is definitely doable. Determine how much space you really need, and how much energy you need. Don’t let limitations prevent your dream from happening. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
