Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. It is located 2000 km (1200 mi) off the southeast coast of the African continent. The country’s area covers about 2040 square kilometers. It was discovered in 1507 by Portuguese explorers. Over the years it has been a French and British colony. Mauritius became independent in 1968 and a republic in 1992.

Illusion is something that is or is likely to be wrongly perceived or interpreted by our senses.

At the southwestern tip of the island there is a sight like no other place in the world. When viewed from different angles the ocean is just a spectrum of whites, greens and blues visually simulating a sense of 3 dimensionality  that dives down like a streaming waterfall. A runoff of sand and slit deposits creates the impression that there is a waterfall under the water. This underwater waterfall illusion can be best seen from birds perspective. The dramatic view can be also seen on satellite pictures from Google Maps. An underwater vortex appears off the coast of this tropical Island country.
